WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is a procedure in which very fine, sterile needles are gently inserted into specific points on the body. These acupuncture points have been mapped out on the body, and are connected by 20 different pathways known as meridians.   In an acupuncture treatment, proper techniques and manipulation are applied to the needles.  This regulates the functional activities of the body and strengthens body's immunity against illness and disease in order to promote wellness and healing.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Acupuncture works by re-establishing balance and harmony within the body's energy systems.   As long as the energy has the appropriate strength and is flowing freely, the body continues to promote health and maintain wellness.  When the flow of energy becomes deficient, excessive, or blocked, one's health declines and unhealthy symptoms appear.  This interruption in the flow of energy could be due to poor nutrition, lack of exercise, stress, external or internal trauma, or any combination.

Studies indicate that acupuncture produces healing effects by regulating the nervous system, thus aiding the effective activity of pain-killing biochemicals, such as endorphins.  Acupuncture also strengthens the body’s immune system by stimulating specific cells within the body.
